In scenario 0, additional eye protection (e.g. face shield) should be considered as part of universal precautions if there is a risk of contamination to the face with splashes, droplets of blood or body fluid with individual patients or tasks. Use of face shield can be single or sessional (i.e. continuous use if the risk pertains to multiple patient encounters during the same clinical session). Face shields should always be discarded after every doffing.
